Xeo laser is based on Cutera Neomidium YAG (Nd: YAG) technology and is primarily used to remove skin diseases and vascular formations and aesthetic procedures. Below are just a few of the laser applications:
Neodymium YAG (Neodymium Yttrium Aluminum Garnet) is a crystal used as a laser medium. The neodymium YAG laser works on the principle of emitting high-energy wavelengths that are directed to create heat and destroy diseased cells.
What distinguishes Neodymium YAG from other types of lasers is the wavelength of 1064 nm which allows to reach deeper layers of skin tissue. Due to its wavelength, the laser is not dependent on pigment on the skin surface and can be used to remove hair in people with dark or tanned skin without any damage to the skin surface. This means that, unlike other types of lasers, hair can also be removed in mid-summer.
Other types of lasers have a shorter wavelength and penetrate shallower. In addition, they depend on the pigment or color of the skin surface. The more pigment the skin has, the more energy is released with skin damage. Therefore, these lasers are not suitable for people with dark or tanned skin, especially during the summer. With the development of technology, it is possible to circumvent these limitations.
Hemoglobin is a protein that builds red blood cells and absorbs the laser beam, releasing energy that destroys blood vessels. In this way, capillaries can be removed regardless of color and veins, up to 5 mm in diameter. Due to the large depth of penetration of the laser beam, the laser is the best method for removing capillaries and leg veins. Hemangiomas, which are located deeper and are purple in color, are excellent for laser removal. For darker skinned people, laser is the method of choice for hair removal, although other skin types are also successfully treated in hair removal treatments.
Prior to treatment, it is very important that the patient has a correct diagnosis by a physician, especially for targeted pigmented lesions, in order to avoid fault
skin cancer treatment such as melanoma.
Side effects are generally minor and may include the following:
